Coffee-loving Moth Pyrausta tyralis

This is a small moth that likes to fly during the daytime.  In the United States, it has been observed from New York to Illinois and from Florida to Arizona.  Its wing span is a little over a half-inch.

It gets its name from the fact that the caterpillars like to feed on the Wild Coffee plant.

The images on this page show Coffee-loving Moths nectaring on the Tickseed plant.  The photos were taken in Deep Creek in Charlotte County.
