Lesser Black-backed Gull Larus fuscus

The Lesser Black-backed Gull breeds in Iceland and along the Atlantic coasts of Europe.  It is a migratory species, wintering from the British Isles south to West Africa.  It is a regular visitor to the east coast of North America, probably from the breeding population in Iceland.

This species is a regular winter visitor to Florida.  It is fairly common along both coasts; very rare inland.  It is seen most frequently from December thru March.
