Blue Jay Cyanocitta cristata

The Blue Jay is a permanent resident through most of the eastern and central United States and southern Canada.  Although mostly non-migratory, there is evidence that the northern-most birds may migrate south a few hundred kilometers.

In Florida, the Blue Jay is a permanent resident that is becoming less common in the extreme southern portions of the state.  During the first Florida Breeding Bird Atlas project, breeding was confirmed in every county in the state.
