The Black-and-white Warbler breeds in northern and eastern North America from the Northwest Territory and Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada to Florida. This species is migratory, wintering in Florida, Central America and the West Indies down to Peru in South America.
In Florida, it is a winter resident throughout the state, varying from very rare in the western Panhandle to non-common or fairly common in the southern half of the peninsular.
