Turkey Vulture Cathartes aura

The Turkey Vulture resides and breeds from British Columbia east to New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire, south to Cuba and Jamaica, and throughout Mexico, Central and South America.  Turkey Vultures in the southern United States are year-round residents.  Birds in the northeast migrate a short distance southward to North Carolina through Louisiana.  Western birds migrate farther southward with large numbers reaching Central America, Venezuela, Columbia, and Ecuador.

Turkey Vultures are a permanent resident in Florida.  They typically breed from March through May. Some Vultures migrate southward through Florida from Sept-Nov and return northward from March-May.
