Scarlet Tanager Piranga olivacea

Scarlet Tanagers breed in the northern two-thirds of the eastern United States and parts of southeastern Canada.  These birds winter from Panama and Columbia south to Ecuador, Peru, and northwest Bolivia.

In Florida, it is a trans-Gulf migrant.  Like many other trans-Gulf migrants, its route in the spring appears to be mainly west of Florida.
