Lesser Yellowlegs Tringa flavipes

The Lesser Yellowlegs breeds in the boreal forest from Alaska east to the James Bay region.  They winter primarily in coastal areas from central California and New Jersey south through much of South America.  They are regular migrants through the interior.

In Florida, this species is quite common during the winter months in central and southern Florida; but is quite rare in the panhandle.  Fall migrants are expected in late August-October and depart during the March-May time frame.
