Short-billed Dowitcher Limnodromus griseus

Short-billed Dowitchers breed in subarctic regions from southern Alaska to eastern Canada.  They winter in coastal areas from Oregon and Virginia south to Peru and Brazil.

In Florida, these birds are a common fall through spring visitor, although a few will hang around throughout the year.  Fall migrants usually arrive in August-September and head back north in March-April.

Note the striking difference between basic (non-breeding) and alternate (breeding) plumages.  Birds in basic plumage are pale gray with a streaked face, speckled breast, and pale flanks.  Birds in alternate plumage have a heavily spotted orange neck and a white belly.
