The Purple Sandpiper breeds in the Arctic and subarctic regions. It winters from southeast Labrador south along the Atlantic Coast to northern Florida. It is a rare but regular migrant through the Great Lakes region and a rare winter visitor along the Gulf Coast.
This bird is an uncommon winter resident on the coast of northeast Florida and a very rare or occasional visitor on other parts of Florida’s coasts.
